Duct Replacement and Zoning
Ductwork is an important part of your home comfort system. If working correctly, it will allow air to move properly throughout your home keeping you cool and comfortable throughout the year. Ductwork can also deteriorate over time forming cracks that allow conditioned air to escape in your attic and hot, dirty air to get pulled into your home. MJS can come out to your home and determine if your ductwork needs replacement or if simple repair work is all that is required to resolve the problem.
COMMON DUCT ISSUES
Noisy Ducts - If the ducts in your home are creaking or rumbling it likely means that there’s something wrong with them. Sometimes, noisy ducts can just be the ductwork expanding at the air that’s moving through them. But it could also be that your ducts have holes in them, that they’re rubbing against something
Airflow - If your home isn’t getting enough cooling or heating, there is a wide variety of problems that could be the cause. Your ducts could have collapsed or been pinched off causing a restriction to the flow of air through them. This would prevent the conditioned air from your AC and heating system from getting into your home.
Duct Leaks - Another common duct issue is in the development of a leak or crack. Any holes in your ductwork obviously present a huge problem for the efficiency of your home. All of the conditioned air coming into your house has to pass through the ducts, which means that it will be constantly leaking hot or cool air.
Properly Sized – Ductwork is designed to deliver a certain amount of airflow to each part of your home. If the ductwork is not properly sized this may cause issues like humidity, lack of airflow or temperature swings from room to room
Dirty Ducts – Depending on the age of the ducts and how often the filters are changed, ducts can have build-up in them (e.g., dust, dry skin, pet dandruff, mildew, etc.) Some ductwork “hard rigid” can be cleaned, but flexible duct-like an according and all the cracks and crevices cannot be accessed.
If you have any questions or concerns about your ductwork it might be best to have an MJS technician come to your home and evaluate the system. We can get to your house quickly, find the problem and offer a reasonable solution.
